Tailoring guide
UX Designer resume keywords and example
UX designer postings reward exact terms: the research methods you used, the tool (almost always Figma by name), design systems work and, more and more, accessibility standards like WCAG 2.2. Below are the keywords that repeat, a sample summary, skills grouped by type, and example bullets across seniority levels.
Updated 4 October 2026. Keyword research current as of July 2026, sourced from public ATS keyword guides, not Weydr's own usage data.
UX Designer keywords that repeat in job postings
- User Research
- Wireframing
- Prototyping
- Figma
- Design Systems
- Usability Testing
- Information Architecture
- Accessibility (WCAG 2.2)
Only include the ones that are true for you. A keyword you can't back up in an interview costs more than it gains.

Example resume bullets by seniority
Illustrative examples: the companies, numbers and outcomes are made up to show the structure (action, scope, tool, result). Use your own real figures.
Entry level
- Ran 8 moderated usability tests on a checkout prototype in Figma, finding 3 navigation issues that were fixed before launch.
- Built 40 components for the team's Figma design system, with documented states and accessibility notes.
Mid level
- Redesigned a mobile onboarding flow based on 12 user interviews and 2 rounds of usability testing, cutting drop-off by 18%.
- Audited the web app against WCAG 2.2 AA, logging 60 issues and working with engineering to fix the 25 highest-impact ones in one quarter.
Senior
- Led UX for a patient portal used by 200,000 people, setting the research plan, information architecture and design principles for a team of 4 designers.
- Set up a research repository in Dovetail and a quarterly usability benchmark, giving product leadership a shared measure of experience quality.
Gaps candidates miss most
- The specific tool (Figma, not "design software"): exact-match matters more than synonyms here
- Accessibility terms (WCAG 2.2, screen reader testing): a hard filter in 2026 enterprise/gov/healthcare roles, often missing
- Research methods named specifically (usability testing, user interviews) instead of "UX research" alone
Common ux designer resume mistakes
- A visually busy résumé that is hard for an ATS to parse. Keep the visuals for your portfolio.
- "Design software" instead of Figma and your other tools by name.
- Describing screens you designed without the research behind them or the outcome after launch.
- Leaving out accessibility when the posting is in government, healthcare or enterprise.
- No portfolio link, or a link to a portfolio that shows final screens but not your process.
