Sales Representative resume keywords and example

Sales postings look first for numbers: quota attainment, pipeline and revenue. They also name the CRM and sometimes a selling methodology. Recruiters tend to skim past bare trait lists like "self-motivated", so each keyword below belongs in a bullet with a result. Here are the keywords that recur, a sample summary, skills grouped by type, and example bullets across seniority levels.

Sales Representative keywords that repeat in job postings

  • Quota Attainment
  • Pipeline Management
  • Prospecting
  • Lead Qualification
  • CRM
  • Salesforce / HubSpot
  • Forecasting
  • Closing
  • Account Management

Only include the ones that are true for you. A keyword you can't back up in an interview costs more than it gains.

Example resume bullets by seniority

Illustrative examples: the companies, numbers and outcomes are made up to show the structure (action, scope, tool, result). Use your own real figures.

Entry level

  • Booked 14 qualified meetings a month through outbound calls and LinkedIn Sales Navigator outreach, exceeding the team target of 10.
  • Logged and updated 120 open opportunities in HubSpot, keeping the weekly pipeline report accurate for the sales manager.

Mid level

  • Closed $620K in new business over 4 quarters, hitting 112% of quota while managing a pipeline of 45 active deals in Salesforce.
  • Used MEDDIC to qualify opportunities, raising the share of forecasted deals that closed from 25% to 38%.

Senior

  • Owned a $1.4M territory and closed 3 of the region's 5 largest deals, partnering with solutions engineers on technical evaluations.
  • Onboarded and coached 4 new reps, helping all of them reach full quota within 6 months of starting.

Gaps candidates miss most

  • Quota attainment as a percentage, not just "met targets"
  • The CRM by name (Salesforce, HubSpot) and the size of the pipeline you managed
  • Deal size, sales cycle length and segment (SMB, mid-market, enterprise)

Common sales representative resume mistakes

  • "Responsible for sales" with no quota, revenue or customer count.
  • A list of personality traits instead of results that show them.
  • Leaving out the CRM, which postings often name directly.
  • Describing activity (calls, emails) without the meetings or revenue it produced.
  • Mixing team numbers with your own, so a reader can't tell what you closed.
